Barbara Thompson

Ms. Thompson’s professional training and experience span more than 30 years, including a B.A. in Psychology and a Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology, numerous professional certifications, and continuing education in business, management, and psychology. In 1986, she founded Discovery Psychotherapy Center, a multi-disciplinary counseling center in Cameron Park, CA which provides individual, group, family, and marital counseling. Since that time, Barbara has divided her time between clinical practice, business mediation, and training conflict resolution in the workplace.

Barbara is a certified consultant and a Master Trainer in workplace mediation with the Mediation Training Institute at Eckerd College. She has completed many hundreds of hours of continuing education, including specialized training in mediation, consulting to partners, couples, and families in business, personal coaching, and the use of the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, The Conflict Dynamics Profile, and the Entrepreneurial Mindset Profile in consulting and training. Ms. Thompson has additional training in workplace violence prevention and corporate crisis intervention. She has experience in critical incident stress management and has provided numerous on-site grief and crisis debriefings in the workplace.

Barbara’s current focus is on helping employees and leaders become “conflict competent” and improving communication and conflict resolution in Business Partnerships and Family Businesses. She is passionate about facilitating closely-held business success and succession in order to help people leave a legacy.

John E. Roe

Dr. Roe’s professional education and experience span more than 30 years, including 5 Community College Credentials, an M.A. and a Ph.D. in Psychology, United States Air Force Officer Training School, a Post-Doctoral Fellowship in Behavioral Health Psychology, and professional education in management, business, and Aviation Psychology. In 1978, he started a private psychotherapy practice in Santa Cruz, California and soon thereafter established Relational Resources, Inc., a non-profit corporation offering a variety of human services in the greater Santa Cruz County area. In 1990, while completing his last two years as Chief of Mental Health at Mather Air Force Base, he resumed his private practice in El Dorado County with Discovery Center. Since that time, he has divided his time between clinical practice, business mediation, and training conflict resolution in the workplace.

John is a certified consultant and a Master Trainer in workplace mediation with the Mediation Training Institute at Eckerd College. He has completed many hundreds of hours of continuing education, including specialized training in mediation, consulting to partners, couples, and families in business, in personal coaching, in the use of the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator and The Conflict Dynamics Profile in consulting and training. He is a trained parent educator and is the co-author of The Ten Suggestions® for Parents of Teen© and author of A Consumer’s Guide to Christian Counseling©. He is passionate about encouraging effective fathering and developing leadership in the workplace and in the home. The current focus of John’s consulting work is assisting Business Partnerships and Family Businesses and facilitating closely-held business success and succession.
