“I value life’s many experiences…the challenges make us all better individuals! It’s not what happens to you, but what happens in you that matters! Help me understand how I can help you be the best version of you so we can all live harmoniously together!”
Dr. Vicki A. Collins graduated from Nova Southeastern University in 2004 with a Doctor of Education degree in Child, Youth & Family Studies with a concentration in Human Services Administration and Human Resource Development. She holds both a Master of Education in School Counseling (1997) and a Bachelor of Science in Education (1994) degree from Georgia State University in Atlanta, Georgia. Dr. Collins has dedicated over 25 years working in one of the largest public school systems in the state. She has worked as an elementary teacher, high school counselor (where she was awarded the State Secondary School Counselor of the Year award in 2004), and as a high school administrator at a technology/career high school. She provides leadership in instructional planning, professional behavior, self-control, and workplace readiness for both staff and students. She enjoys working with future industry and college-bound students in the development of communication and leadership skills, and practical experiences used to solve problems in everyday life and in the workplace.
Dr. Collins has worked diligently over the years to increase the rigor of the technical/career curriculum, advocating for educational improvement, and to foster leadership and self-acceptance in students. She works with people to help them understand their role in workplace conflict, and by using a lifetime of personal and professional experiences, she easily helps others resolve social and emotional issues that help them learn to work with others using productive communication, tolerance, and acceptance. Students, parents, and colleagues value the insight and experience Dr. Collins offers to help them resolve issues that may be holding them back from their full potential as learners and leaders.
Dr. Collins is pursuing her professional mediation certification in General/Civil Training, which will only strengthen her knowledge and skills when working with others to peacefully resolve conflict and strengthen working relationships. In addition to her role as an educational leader and lifelong mediator, Dr. Collins enjoys her Shar Pei dogs and spending time with her husband, Phil Collins (no he cannot sing), and their adult sons!
