Nezia Munezero Kubwayo is a Burundian American humanitarian based in the Baltimore Metro area. She has managed communications and development efforts for non-profits for over a decade and is now the Director of Philanthropy at Shepherd’s Clinic. Nezia previously worked in refugee resettlement for the Ethiopian Development Council and Lutheran Social Services of the National Capital Area. She also served as the Executive Director of Night of Peace Family Shelter prior to working in the information management branch of the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs. In addition to her work in the non-profit sector, Nezia has spent the last 12 years partnering with companies to write, edit, and translate content.
Nezia is currently a first-year student in the Conflict Analysis and Resolution doctoral program at NOVA Southeastern University. She completed her MA in International Human Rights Law from the American University in Cairo and received her BA in Political Science and French at St. Mary’s College of Maryland.
Nezia spends her spare time making memories with her exceptional husband and three curious children. Her interests include travel, food, languages, mentorship, and overthinking about ways to make life easier for her family and friends.
