“I work to be an Instrument for Peace, as described by St. Francis. My focus is to nurture cultures of peace that value and practice compassion, courage, and humility to address difficult situations and thorny problems. I work with individuals to strengthen their ability to engage in challenging conversations, I work with groups to eliminate discord and increase understanding, and I help organizations to build cultures of learning and feedback.
Through coaching, facilitation, training, and public speaking, Terrell enables individuals and groups to handle difficult communications by guiding supervisors through professional and personal growth and nurturing organizational change. He accomplishes this through skill-building workshops, group experiences, and 1:1 coaching for executives and management. Additionally, Terrell is a passionate advocate for mentoring and workplace diversity.
Terrell has developed a breadth of organization development, change management and behavioral knowledge, and tools that inform his professional practice. Additionally, he leverages his extensive project management experience, well-honed communication abilities, and superior people and collaboration skills to achieve project objectives.
As an organizational consultant, Terrell has shared his expertise with a number of institutions and individuals. He has shared his expertise and skills with a number of organizations in multiple industries. Among those are the California Department of Corrections, Kaiser Permanente, Blue Shield of California, and ExxonMobil. Terrell also volunteers with Contra Costa County Courts as a court mediator, mentors underserved youth and provides pro bono organization development services with New Door Ventures.
Prior to building his organizational consulting practice, Terrell worked in marketing technology roles. He began his career as an interactive analyst at the groundbreaking online ad agency, i33 Communications. Over the course of the next 16 years, his roles evolved from assistant account manager to director of professional services at industry-leading organizations, including Wyndham Worldwide, Marin Software, and Razorfish Health (iFrontier), where he led web marketing efforts for Claritin, Nasonex, and Clarinex allergy drugs. During his tenure as a marketing manager and technologist, Terrell serviced several major brands including Adobe, Cisco, Days Inn, MetLife, Ramada, and Ralston Purina.
Terrell earned his Master of Science in Organization Development (MSOD) from the University of San Francisco School of Management and his Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies from Virginia Tech. He has also studied facilitation, mediation, conflict resolution, mindfulness, and coaching through classwork at various institutions, including the UC Berkeley Extension.
